Putin: full-fledged cargo traffic on the Crimean bridge will begin on July 1

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that full-fledged cargo traffic on the Crimean bridge will be open from July 1, 2020.

“From July 1, rail transportation of goods [across the Crimean bridge] will be carried out regularly,” the head of state said at a meeting on the socio-economic development of Crimea and Sevastopol.

"The main problem that people are talking about is the normalization of prices for essential goods - food, fuel, building materials. The opening of regular rail services should have a positive effect on the supply of the Crimean market, its saturation with high-quality and affordable goods," the head of state said. The president added that he was particularly counting on this effect after the launch of regular rail freight trains on the Crimean bridge.

Putin stated that high standards were set in the construction of the main infrastructure. “It is necessary to raise its regional component to the same level,” he said. The head of state also appealed to the participants of the meeting with instructions to develop logistics, avoiding monopolism and maintaining a high level of competition. According to him, this will open up new places for trade.

“I ask you, dear colleagues, to do this quickly, without any administrative delays and generally use mechanisms that, first of all, will suit people and, of course, will be effective for business,” he concluded.
