Useful information:

The combination of small consignments of different consignors or consignees transported in one cargo place by one transport document is called consolidated shipment or transportation of a consolidated cargo. For small participants in foreign trade activities this type of transportation helps to reduce costs and compete with large suppliers.

At a weight of a batch of goods up to 2,000 kg and a relatively small amount from a financial point of view, it is irrational to order a whole container or wagon for transportation, since the cargo will not take 15% of cargo capacity. And also a small batch can cause difficulties in placement and fastening inside the cargo compartment to ensure the immovability of the cargo during transportation for the safety of transportation.

Carriers that provide services for the transport of consolidated cargo have their own warehouses, at which the acceptance of consignments from cargo owners takes place. After the accumulation of a shipment of sufficient volume, a whole cargo space is reserved for all these consignments. The main difficulty of sending a consolidated cargo is the unpredictability of the transit time for delivery of the goods to the recipient, since it is impossible to accurately predict the period during which the combined cargo will be assembled. Therefore, it makes sense to apply for such services to large line companies that have a high turnover in all directions and the ability to link shipments in the shortest possible time.

After the arrival of the consolidated cargo to the port of discharge or to the temporary storage warehouse, its customs clearance takes place. Since it is the duty of the customs to arrange the shipment of the goods, the design of each batch must be carried out individually. This is the additional complexity of such shipments, since all cargo is to be exported from the customs control zone only after registration of all parties without exception. Therefore, as a rule, all dispatch is unloaded to the warehouse, after which it is sent to the address of the recipients as the customs formalities are completed.

It is possible that customs clearance by the whole party is carried out by the carrier under a single document, which substantially simplifies this process for cargo owners. These nuances must be stipulated before shipment, since for such clearance, the consent of all cargo owners, who form this consolidated shipment without exception, is necessary.
